Innovation in the Midst of Uncertainty

In the midst of chaos, there is also opportunity.
Why NOW is the best time to unlock your team’s creative potential

It’s December 2020. The end of the strangest, most exhausting and frustrating year. Most likely the last thing you want to think about is being creative and having new ideas. I totally get that. AND, I have a suggestion that might initially seem counter-intuitive…

Now is the time to acknowledge the uncertainty and even chaos this year has brought, then, in spite of that, turn your attention to NEW PERSPECTIVES and being CREATIVE.

Why?
Because chaos and uncertainty are often the best place for generating innovation.

Just think back on what has happened this year. Everyone has their own personal story of 2020. I don’t know what yours is (though I would love to hear about it), but I suspect you will have something in common with mine.

I started this year excited about the opportunities I had for making a difference by working with business leaders to motivate their teams and unlock their creative potential. Then, my first setback arrived in the form of an unexpected emergency operation. I was just getting ready to go back out into the world, and the second setback happened. Covid-19 and lockdown. But, life and work needed to continue, even if it all took place from my studio office at home. Within a few short weeks, I had adapted to teaching and working online. Zoom became my new essential app. Now here we are, almost at Christmas break, with programmes that looked impossible back in April, nearing successful completion.

In the midst of the unknown, we created new ways to deliver our work. Sometimes it is BECAUSE of uncertainty, that we are forced to come up with new and creative ways of doing things.
